Global Education News is an electronic newsletter where national global education coordinators or practitioners can share global education news and best practices, useful thematic links and educational materials. It also serves as a medium for the North-South Centre global education network national coordinators' own use.

. In a bid to accelerate the empowerment of women, the UN General Assembly created a new entity merging four United Nations offices focusing on gender equality. The new UN Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, to be known as UN Women will merge the UN Development Fund for Women (UNIFEM), the Division for the Advancement of Women (DAW), the Office of the Special Adviser on Gender Issues, and the UN International Research and Training Institute for the Advancement of Women (UN-INSTRAW).

The Mediterranean Institute of Gender Studies - MIGS is a non-profit organisation which promotes and contributes to projects of social, political, and economic themes relating to gender with an emphasis on the Mediterranean region. MIGS is happy to make available its Annual Report highlighting the main activities of the Institute in 2009. . Developing Countries Lead Global Recovery - the World Bank projects global gross domestic product (GDP) to expand between 2.9 to 3.3% in 2010 and 2011. Developing countries will lead the global recovery, expanding almost twice as fast as high-income countries, according to the Bank’s latest Global Economic Prospects 2010.
