Southern Africa Sub Regional Seminar on Youth Policies and the African Youth Charter

This seminar is part of the follow-up programme that resulted from Africa-Europe Youth Summit, which held in December 2007. This will be the third of five sub-regional workshops to be held in five different sub regions of the African Union in preparation of the 2010 Africa-Europe Youth Summit.
The first Seminar was held in the West Africa Region, in June 2009 in the framework of the First African University on Youth and Development, held in Tarrafal, Cape Verde; and the second was held in east African Region, in Addis Ababa in November 2009.
The seminar will be organised under the Joint Management Agreement between the North-SouthCentre of the Council of Europe and DGAIDCO/EuropeAid and implemented by the National Youth Council of Angola in cooperation with the Pan African Youth Union.
The seminar is targeted to National Youth Councils (NYCs) leaders and national representatives of International Youth Organisations, International Youth Organisations and Institutions working with youth and youth policies in the countries of Southern Africa.
The main objectives of the seminar are: to discuss the implementation and dissemination of the African Youth Charter (AYC); to collect contributions for major challenges in youth policies; to assess the situation of youth policies in the sub region; and to look towards the 2010 Africa-Europe Youth Summit.
