Like the Phoenix rising from its ashes, the North-South Centre’s newsletter reappears on the eve of its 20th anniversary. It is a continuation of its predecessors (such as "The Interdependent") and pursues the same objective of providing information on the activities of the North-South Centre in the political context of the Council of Europe. Its goal is to be in line with modern technology, as it was designed primarily as an electronic newsletter. At a time when the Centre is enjoying a new vitality, one which must allow it to strengthen its visibility and credibility as the privileged instrument of the Council of Europeto promote its action and values beyond the European continent, we wanted to go further than only information on the activities of the Centre of the Council of Europe, by giving a voice to those who accompany us and/or who contribute to our activities. In this first issue, you will be able to discover the point of view of Victor Angelo, the United Nations Deputy Secretary-General, on youth in Africa, as well as interviews with trainers from our training programme for facilitators of Euro-African youth and participants at the “University of Youth and Development" which will celebrate its 10th session on 13-20 September in Mollina (Spain). Happy reading!
