GLOBAL EDUCATION WEEK 2007
EVALUATION & PLANNING FEEDBACK FORM
It is the first year that GEW have been so famous in a lot of cities, regions and youth institutions and organizations in Lithuania. For this reason teenagers and adults from small and big towns started to express their personal opinion, without any fear that somebody cannot understand them. We think, that it is the biggest achievement.
During the week many events took place targeting human virtues. The aim was to come up with new activities attractive to the youth, so they would participate in the events and find something new about themselves. Although it was a difficult task for the organizers, they handled it well. All the events were attended by lots of people. Maybe it was because they are young and active themselves.
One of the most meaningful achievements of the GEW was involvement of 50 youngsters directly to the organizational process of this project. This group of initiative school students and students from different Lithuanian regions worked together while implementing their ideas. Such activities helps to educate social, communicative and many other competencies.
Furthermore about 5000 youngsters from all Lithuania participated in different activities during the GEW. Organizers of the week in Lithuania made a program in order to involve as much different target groups as possible, and as participation of youth in such actions as: “Day of Goodness“, three open lectures about humanism, active citizenship, interactive board of opinions, “Live Library”, social project – “Mirror”, Discussion days, final concert, Forum Theatre, exhibitions, seminars and more other activities. Considering number of participants and different regions which have joined the GEW by suggesting their own activities there comes conclusion that GEW was successful.
There were people from small towns, who have faced to some problems, because they don’t have training and experience how to use and for whom they can send necessary and important information. That is the reason of difficult communication with people who have ideas but don’t know how to communicate them and bring to actuality.
Other obstacle which organizers faced during the GEW was not big, but sometimes substantial passivity from schools from different regions of Lithuania. Having a network of initiative youngsters helps to solve this problem and to attract more and more people in the action every year.
How is the GEW coordinated nationally?
Is there any official coordinating structure?
Or a Global Education national platform?
Which are your main partners at national level? And international level?
GEW in Lithuania is coordinated by Lithuanian Ministry of education and science with Lithuanian youth centre, Lithuanian school students union and Lithuanian students union, those organizations in turn collaborated with other national partners from different regions (associations of non formal education, schools, universities and other). Those organizations always help when so mass actions are held during such events.

Lithuanian Youth centre, Lithuanian school students union; Lithuanian students union; “In corpore” organization; coordinator in Lithuania of “All different – all equal” project – Arūnas Survila; Nordic council of ministers, schools and universities from different Lithuanian regions, association of non – formal institutions and many others.
These partners provided some important information on essential parts of the GEW also regarded to have good quality of communication between all youngsters and different actions.
