Information and documentation services

The information and documentation activities aim at improving the efficiency, relevance and dissemination of the work carried out in the Directorate. To this end we collect and distribute information resources in relation to cultural policies in Europe, covering cultural co-operation, cultural policy and action, and cultural heritage.

The information services are specifically designed to support the staff of the Directorate of Culture and Cultural and Natural Heritage and other sectors in the Organisation with information and research. Further target user groups include ministries of the member states of the Organisation; cultural networks and associations; as well as researchers and students in the field of cultural policies in Europe.

Development of resources is built on a regular information exchange with major European and national cultural research institutes, documentation centres, professional associations, etc.

The collection is indexed in the central library system of the Council of Europe, accessible via the Internet thanks to WebCat, the web-based library catalogue (see: Documentary collection). Visitors are welcome and are received on an appointment basis (e-mail to culturedoc@coe.int).
