The Group of Experts on the European Diploma of Protected Areas meets in Strasbourg on
26 March 2013 for their annual meeting.
Background: The European Diploma of
Protected Areas is a prestigious
international award granted since 1965 by
the Council of Europe. It is awarded to protected areas, managed in an exemplary way, for their outstanding
scientific, cultural or aesthetic qualities and their European importance for the preservation of biological,
geological and landscape diversity.
