Description

The theme of this year is "Hidden treasures. Wall painting". The organisers aim to actualize one of the most impressive and colorful heritage which is not yet well known to the public. Lack of knowing is determined of many various reasons such as occupations, long years of limited access to authentic historical sources, etc. This is why it is so important to revise the attitude to the wall painting monuments and to introduce them to the society, in particularly, to the young generation. We must emphasise the European dimension of this cultural heritage, which was created due to constant cultural exchanges between Lithuania and other European states. The documentary European Heritage Days film of Ala Asovskaja "Wall Painting in Lithuania"" (duration – 30 min) will be presented during the opening of the events. After the premiere the film will start its trip to other towns of the country. Events of heritage days: exhibitions, public lectures, excursions to heritage objects, screenings of documentaries, etc. will be organised in the entire Lithuania: Alytus, Kaunas, Vilnius, Klaipėda, Kėdainiai, Kretinga, Marijampolė, Biržai, Kražiai, Plungė, in other towns and districts. The events of "European Heritage Days" in Lithuania are coordinated and organized by the Culture Heritage Department under the Ministry of Culture as well as municipalities of towns and districts.
