2010 "Cultural Event" label

The Council of Europe "Cultural Event" label recognises exceptional and innovative cultural and artistic projects which address key challenges of today’s European societies and convey strong messages related to the Council of Europe’s mission and values.

 

The following projects have been awarded the Council of Europe "Cultural Event" label in 2010:

 

1. Artistic encounters "Voices in the night" by the company "Rodeo d’âme" in Strasbourg (France) in March-September 2011.

French-German cycle of pluri-artistic encounters of reflection about the last testimonies of the Nazi and Vichy camps and on the artistic creation in these camps. Theatre tour, concerts of music composed in Theresienstadt, exhibition of drawings realised secretly in these camps, debates, conferences, publications of books and DVD’s. http://rodeodame.fr

 


 

2. Binauralmedia, an artistic collective in Portugal explores and researches in sound, visual and media art in rural spaces

Organisation of art residencies, educational programmes, workshops for schools. The activities in 2010 are linked to the European Year of Biodiversity. http://www.binauralmedia.org/

3. European Divas 60+– A TV-documentary series of 30 min made in association with Danish National Broadcasting Company (DR2)

A series of portraits of six women actresses +60 who represent the European film and women’s modern history: Charlotte Rampling, Hanna Schygulla, Liv Ullmann, Anna Karina, Harriet Andersson, etc. They will tell their story and experience as actresses and icons in a film industry characterised by female stereotypes. 4. Exhibition of about 15 Roma artists and of a platform "Call the Witness"

The Council of Europe "Cultural Event" label has been awarded to the 2nd Roma Pavilion (the 1st was organised in 2007) which will be organised at the Venice Biennial from 4 June to 27 November 2011. It will consist in an exhibition of about 15 Roma artists and of a platform "Call the Witness" on which artists, politicians and the general public of the Biennale will deliver testimonies on injustices against the Romas. These testimonies will be screened on different monitors in Venice and will be archived on a website.
