CultureWatchEurope 2012 Event - Cultural Access and Participation - from Indicators to Policies for Democracy

Helsinki (Finland), 30 June 2012

The CultureWatchEurope 2012 event took the form of a think-tank on the interaction between policy and research with regard to the issue of access to and participation in culture. The issue of indicators was of key interest.

The conference took up a recent Report and Recommendation by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on "Right of everyone to take part in cultural life".

Participants presented their perspectives on "Cultural Policies for Democracy", a challenge to be addressed by the cultural sector, policy makers and the intergovernmental and parliamentary action of the Council of Europe.

The Finnish Ministry for Education and Culture and the Council of Europe co-organised the think tank on 30 June in Helsinki.
