A Word from the Chair
As Chair of the European Committee on Legal
Co-operation (CDCJ) I would like to welcome you to the Committee
website and hope your visit will be interesting and informative
more on the Committee...).
CDCJ activities tackle common challenges such as those
addressed in the recommendation on preventing and resolving disputes on
child relocation that the Committee of Ministers has recently adopted,
or the need to develop a legal instrument on the regulation of lobbying
activities, or to explore the issue of digital evidence (see in more
detail under “activities” on the menu to the left of this page). |
CDCJ held its 90th plenary meeting
from 28 to 30 October 2015 where the current and future activities were
discussed and a new Chairmanship was elected. As from 1st January 2016,
the committee will be led by Ms Zuzana Fišerová (Czech Republic) as the
Chair; Mr Lennart Houmann (Denmark) will be the new Vice-Chair. I would
like to congratulate them on their election and wish them every success.
In this transition phase and above all
end-of-year period, please let me offer all of you my Season Greetings
and wish you Happy New Year 2016.

The European Committee on Legal Co-operation (CDCJ) is
an intergovernmental body, set up in 1963 under the
auspices of the Committee of Ministers, which is
responsible for the standard-setting activities of the
Council of Europe in the field of public and private
The CDCJ's main role is to draw up
standards commonly accepted by the 47 member states and to foster legal
co-operation among them.
The CDCJ is composed of representatives of all member states -
principally from the ministries of justice - who meet once a year at the
headquarters of the Council of Europe in Strasbourg (France).
