Meeting in Venice on the Framework Convention on the Value of Cultural Heritage for Society (the Faro Convention)

Various member States, local and national Italian stakeholders, international experts, Mrs Luisella Pavan-Woolfe (Director of the Council of Europe Office in Venice) and Mrs Antonia Pasqua Recchia (Secretary General of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and Tourism) will participate in a meeting in Venice to discuss good practice examples of how member States can implement the principles of the Faro Convention. Austria, Croatia and Latvia will present their experiences in order to provide inspiration and encouragement to those countries thinking about signing or ratifying the Convention. The Faro Venezia Association will be animating the event with three heritage walks around the city to illustrate concrete examples of the Faro Convention implementation on the ground.

The Faro Convention emphasizes the important aspects of heritage as they relate to human rights and democracy. It promotes a wider understanding of heritage and its relationship to communities and society.
