Back Five initiatives on inter-municipal co-operation to be implemented in Armenia, Georgia and Moldova

The Council of Europe, through the Center of Expertise for Local Government Reform, DG II, awarded five grants on inter-municipal co-operation in Armenia, Georgia and Moldova.

The projects seek to improve the provision of several public services - waste management, water supply, road maintenance and tourism development - through inter-municipal co-operation of mutual benefit to all partner municipalities and their citizens. The initiatives also aim to deliver an added value to the Council of Europe and European Union efforts in the establishment of reliable and efficient local self-government in its member and neighborhood countries, in line with the provisions of the European Charter of Local Self-Government.

The projects will be carried out during July-October 2017, having a total budget of 170,364 EUR and being funded by the European Union and co-funded by the Council of Europe, within the Thematic Programme “Strengthening institutional frameworks for local governance” under the Partnership for Good Governance (PGG) 2015-2017 for Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, Moldova, Ukraine and Belarus.
