The Prize "Crystal Scales of Justice"

Since 2005, the Council of Europe and the European Commission are organising a competition to discover and highlight innovative and efficient practices used in European courts for court organisation or for the conduct of civil proceedings (for instance initiatives devised by a court president, a registry, a Bar) and deserving to be drawn to the attention of policy-makers and the judicial community so as to improve the operation of the public system of justice. The Prize is alternaltively awarded in civil and criminal matters by a Jury of European legal professionals.

The last edition of the prize in civil matters was organised in 2008. The next edition of this prize will be held in 2010.

For the first time in 2009, the prize of the Crystal Scales of Criminal Justice and three special distinctions have been awarded during the plenary session of the Justice Forum, which took place on 4 and 5 June 2009 in Brussels.
