Discussing ongoing and future plans with the CEC of Georgia

On the occasion of the conference on countering hate speech in electoral processes the opportunity was used to discuss ongoing and future cooperation with the Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission of Georgia, Ms Tamar Zhvania, to streamline cooperation and finetune directions for 2019.

Among other matters, making electoral processes more transparent, countering disinformation and activating youth and first-time voters were listed among current priorities.

Both the Council of Europe and Central Election Commission of Georgia expressed their interest in intensifying electoral cooperation and are looking forward to preparing a full-fledged cooperation project proposal on supporting more transparent, inclusive and fair electoral processes for 2020-2023, which also correlates with the new “Council of Europe – Georgia” action plan, currently under discussions.
