Recent developments in the judicial field
- June 2019: Switzerland has launched the Justitia 4.0 project.
The Justitia 4.0 project aims to introduce the electronic file within the judicial authorities, electronic communication with them and online consultation of the files. All types of proceedings are involved: criminal, civil and administrative proceedings.Around 100 users from judicial authorities and bar associations throughout Switzerland responded positively to the invitation to become strongly involved as experts. Gathered in working groups, their mission is to define needs based in particular on prototypes and, in a second phase, to test the developments carried out.The kick-off took place on 14 February 2019.
- Reports on the implementation of the CEPEJ guidelines for judicial time management in 7 pilot courts / institutions (Czech Republic, Georgia, Italy, Norway, Switzerland, United Kingdom) (March 2011)
A new law on the federal court is to come into force in 2007, concerning in particular access to the Federal Court: simplification of the appeals procedure (the number of types of appeals is to be reduced from 20 to 4), possibility of communicating with the Court electronically, all court decisions to be referred to a court of appeal at cantonal level before they can be referred to the Federal Court.
