Orientation Training for Pilot Judges and Court Staff on Court-Based Mediation Services

 

The orientation training programme has been organised on 22-24 February 2016 in Ankara for selected pilot judges and court staff who are working at the mediation bureaus and allocation bureaus/front desks at six pilot courthouses located in six jurisdictions (Ankara, Bursa, İstanbul/Caglayan, Izmir, Kayseri, Mersin). The primary purpose of the training programme has been to improve knowledge and skills of the pilot judges and court staff on court-based mediation services. The Council of Europe CEPEJ experts delivered presentations on judicial referral process as well as the use of court-based mediation services manual. The experts conducted and facilitated role-plays and practical exercises both for judges and court staff in pilot jurisdictions. By the end of the training, the participants have elaborated with the facilitation of CEPEJ experts each and every phase of court-based mediation scheme, and obtained all elements to improve their skills and competence accordingly.

This training was organised in the framework of the Project on “Developing Mediation Practices in Civil Disputes in Turkey”.
