Second Needs Assessment Mission on Training in the field of Criminal Justice System Took Place in Izmir and Ankara

The second meeting of the working group for the assessment of training needs was organised between 6-8 January 2020, in Izmir and Ankara, within the framework of the Joint Project on the Strengthening the Criminal Justice System and the Capacity of Justice Professionals on Prevention of the European Convention on Human Rights Violations in Turkey (CJS). The aim of the working group was to further enrich the findings of the first needs assessment working group as well as evaluating the needs of project stakeholders and beneficiaries dealing with human rights issues, which are placed at the centre of the project (e.g. right to a fair trial, cybercrime, financing of terrorism), in context of the current training system and methodology.

The international and national consultants met the representatives of Izmir Bar Association, Judges and Prosecutors dealing with Organised Crimes, Cybercrime and Anti-terror issues, Judges and Prosecutors of the Court of Appeal, previous projects’ trainers and the representatives of the Ministry of Justice and the Turkish Justice Academy.

Following the completion of the needs assessment missions project consultants have started to work on consolidation of their findings and the assessment report will be finalised and shared with stakeholders in early 2020, which will serve as a road map in structuring the training modules to be developed within the scope of the project and also contribute to the ongoing activities of the Turkish Justice Academy.
