Within the scope of the Joint Project on “Improving the Effectiveness of the Administrative Judiciary and Strengthening the Capacity of the Council of State”, preparations of the Media and Public Relations Action Plan continues as a part of the actions foreseen to be implemented in line with the Roadmap prepared to support the implementation of the Judicial Reform Strategy and Human Rights Action Plan by the Turkish authorities. The last consultation meetings were held on 20 May 2021 with the Istanbul Regional Administrative Courts and pilot courts to reveal the current status and define the areas to be improved in the field of media and public relations, upon which the needs analysis for the action plan has been completed.
The President of the Istanbul Regional Administrative Court, the President and members of Istanbul 2nd Tax Litigation Chamber and the President and relevant court staff of Istanbul 15th Tax Court Istanbul attended the consultation meeting. While discussing the possible communication needs of the citizens within the current system, information was received on the services provided and best practices. Following a tour of the premises of the courthouse, information was given on the services and opportunities provided to the citizens. Comments and recommendations were also shared to increase public awareness on the work of administrative courts within the scope of the meetings.
The Joint Project on “Improving the Effectiveness of the Administrative Judiciary and Strengthening the Institutional Capacity of the Council of State” is implemented by the Council of Europe, and co-funded by the European Union, the Republic of Turkey and the Council of Europe. The Turkish Ministry of Justice - Directorate General for Legal Affairs is the end beneficiary of the Project. The Central Finance and Contracts Unit is the contracting authority of this Project.
