Webinar on trade in goods used for the death penalty, torture and cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment

The German Chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, in cooperation with Amnesty International, the Omega Research Foundation and the Steering Committee for Human Rights (CDDH) will hold a high-level online Webinar on 17 May 2021 (10:00 – 13:00 CET) concerning the implementation of the Recommendation CM/Rec(2021)2 to member States on measures against the trade in goods used for the death penalty, torture and cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment adopted by the Committee of Ministers on 31 March 2021.

The Webinar will seek to raise awareness on the serious problems tackled by the Recommendation as well as the measures identified by the Committee of Ministers against this kind of trade. The aim is to help the national authorities and civil society to implement this text at domestic level.

The Webinar will also examine the ongoing efforts at national and international level concerning these issues, the challenges ahead and the existing good practices.

This event will be held in English and French via the KUDO videoconference platform, and will be live webcasted on this page.
