Back Meeting of the Ministers’ Deputies on 20 January 2021

At their 1393rd meeting, on 20 January, the Ministers’ Deputies adopted a Declaration of the Committee of Ministers on the 40th anniversary of Convention 108 - Safeguarding the right to data protection in the digital environment. Convention 108 can become the international standard of reference on privacy and data protection in the digital age, declared the Committee of Ministers. It also recalled the importance of the amending Protocol (2018) to secure a shared legal space fit for the digital age, in order to preserve the relevance of this landmark instrument for the decades to come. It called upon all States Parties to the Convention that have not yet done so to ratify the amending Protocol.

The Ministers' Deputies also held an exchange of views with Ms Anna Rurka, President of the Conference of INGOs.
