Back Meeting of the Ministers’ Deputies on 10-11 February 2021

At their 1395th meeting, on 10 February, the Ministers’ Deputies held an exchange of views with Ms Nina Betetto, President of the Consultative Council of European Judges (CCJE). The Deputies also took note of Opinion No. 23 (2020) of the CCJE on “The role of associations of judges in supporting judicial independence” and of Opinion No. 15 (2020) of the Consultative Council of European Prosecutors (CCPE) on “The role of prosecutors in emergency situations, in particular when facing a pandemic”.

On 11 February, the Deputies held an exchange of views with the United Nations on human rights questions, with experts from capitals. The agenda was as follows:

  • Exchange of views with the President of the United Nations Human Rights Council on the agenda of the next session of the Human Rights Council, and in particular on human rights and the pandemic
  • Thematic discussion on human rights and artificial intelligence

The following personalities participated in the exchange: Ambassador Nazhat Shameem Khan, President of the United Nations Human Rights Council, Ms Peggy Valcke, Vice-Chair of the Ad hoc Committee on Artificial Intelligence (CAHAI), Ms Gabriela Ramos, Assistant Director-General for the Social and Human Sciences, UNESCO, and Mr Clément Voule, UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights to Freedom of Peaceful Assembly and of Association.
