Multi sectoral cooperation for inclusion of Roma youth and marginalized groups

This study session took place at the European Youth Centre Budapest from 23-26 May 2022 and was co-organised with the National Youth Councils of Bulgaria, North Macedonia, Romania and Ukraine, and RRoma - Regional Roma Educational Youth Association.

The activity gathered young Roma activists, lawyers and social workers with the aim to build competences in advocacy for the rights of the young Roma and other marginalized groups. Through the week participants explored the concepts of identity and discrimination, antigypsyism and had a closer look at the situation of Roma young people in different parts of Europe and the main challenges they encounter.

The lack of education, discrimination, segregation, systematics deprivation, poverty and racism were among the main issues to address with advocacy and lobbying tools.

The session urged the national governments, NGOs and the Council of Europe to support young Roma’s access to rights and related services with a set of recommendations that can be found in the report.
