Inspiring, with positive energy and motivating examples, students from Joint Secondary School of Krrabë, in a visit at the Swedish Embassy in Tirana, introduced some of the activities conducted during the four-year journey of the Council of Europe project Strengthening Democratic Citizenship Education in Albania.

During the friendly meeting, the young people engaged in an open discussion on democracy, human rights, media literacy, and environmental issues with the Swedish Ambassador to Albani,a Niklas Ström, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Tirana, Giulia Re, and Petra Burcher, Head of Development Cooperation at Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida).

Through some artistic works, presented to the institutions’ representatives, students also shared about various initiatives that aimed to convey knowledge and essential values of democratic culture to their peers and communities.

School of Krrabë, is among 75 pilot schools, part of the Democratic and Inclusive Schools network established within the project Strengthening Democratic Citizenship Education in Albania, financed by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), which are supported promoting inclusive education, equipping teachers with new competences and sharing of best practises.

Gratitude for the continuous support and the fruitful partnership with the Swedish Embassy, which reconfirmed co-operation with the Council of Europe for another two years in the field of democratic citizenship education.

The project “Strengthening Democratic Citizenship Education in Albania” that works closely with the Ministry of Education and Sports, commits to bring positive change in the education sector, fostering inclusive and quality education in Albania by strengthening democratic citizenship education and democratic culture for all learners.
