After Shkodër, Kukës and Fier, the awareness raising campaign against discrimination reached Korçë and Gjirokaster, on 2nd and 3rd May 2018.
The campaign is organised by the Commissioner for Protection from Discrimination with the support of the European Union/Council of Europe joint project “Enhancing the effectiveness of the Albanian System of human rights protection and anti-discrimination “aiming to raise awareness among the general public on the damages discrimination and exclusion of vulnerable groups inflicts on societies while at the same time informing about the work of the Commissioner.
On 2nd May, an anti-discrimination run was organized in Korçë, with participants from local institutions, together with children, students, teachers and parents, promoting diversity and messages of equality and solidarity.
In Gjirokastër representatives from local institutions took part in a symbolic volleyball match. The sport event was combined with the broadcasting of awareness TV spots and reflections from the audience.
Awareness messages were delivered in both events by the representatives of the Municipality of Korçë and Gjirokastër, the Council of Europe, the office of the National Commissioner for Protection from Discrimination and the Regional Education Department.
