Moot court competition: university students apply freedom of expression and media standards in a simulated case

A trial simulation was organised by ResPublica with university students of law on a case involving Article 10 of the European Convention of Human Rights. Students developed skills in analysing the case facts, researching the relevant law, preparing written submissions, and presenting oral arguments. Moor court competition is an excellent way to learn by doing where students studied cases from the European Court of Human Rights and applied those standards into a simulated domestic case.

During the simulation of court trial, students demonstrated the ability to go beyond their university training and have the opportunity to apply what they know in a real case situation. The three-member panel of judges concluded that students demonstrated a strong command of standards related to Freedom of Expression.

First prize winner will obtain a paid internship with ResPublica.

This activity was organised within the action on “Freedom of Expression and Freedom of the Media in Albania” which is a part of the joint European Union and Council of Europe programme “Horizontal Facility for the Western Balkans and Turkey 2019-2022”.
