Cascade training on effective length of proceedings

The second cascade training on application of the case law of the European Court of Human Rights with a specific focus on the Article 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights, was organised on 26 and 27 February 2018 in Tirana.

The training was organised in cooperation with the School of Magistrates of Albania with the participation of the Council of Europe consultant. The participation of representatives of courts and prosecution enabled the participants to approach relevant elements from the perspectives of their respective professions. The seminar aimed at strengthening the knowledge of legal professionals on the European Court of Human Rights standards concerning the excessive length of proceedings and reasonable time requirements.

The training was delivered by the national trainers of the Albanian School of Magistrates, using the training manuals on effective remedies for length of proceedings developed under the Action. The manuals will remain at the disposal of the national system for the future activities.

The training was organised under the joint initiative of the European Union/Council of Europe Horizontal Facility Action “Supporting effective domestic remedies and facilitating the execution of ECtHR judgments”.
