On 19-20 March 2018, the Council of Europe, in cooperation with the School of Magistrates of Albania (SoM) organized in Tirana the cascade training on the application of the Article 6 of the European Convention on Human Rights with a specific focus on fairness of criminal proceedings. Targeting over 16 representatives of the prosecution offices and magistrates form the district and appeal courts, the cascade training aimed at strengthening the knowledge of participants on the European Court of Human Rights standards and potential changes of the national legislation in this regard.

The training manuals on effective remedies for length of proceedings developed prepared by the Council of Europe were distributed to the participants and will remain at the disposal of the School of Magistrates for future activities.

The event took place under the joint European Union/Council of Europe Action “Supporting effective domestic remedies and facilitating the execution of ECtHR judgments in Albania”.
