Тwo-day training for lawyers and other legal professionals on “Freedom of expression and Internet”

Under the Joint Project “Reinforcing Judicial Expertise on Freedom of Expression and the Media in South-East Europe (JUFREX),” co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe and implemented by the Council of Europe, a two day training for lawyers and other legal professionals was organised in Struga from 16 to 18 March 2018. The training addressed the topic “Freedom of expression and Internet” and involved 28 participants, including members of the Bar Association. The activity is the third of its kind organised in partnership with the Macedonian Young Lawyers’ Association.

The training was delivered by two experts: Mr. Cesare Pitea, the CoE’s international expert covering European standards and best practices as well as case law of the European Court of Human Rights; and Ms. Ana Dangova Hug, national expert who analysed domestic proceeding and legal framework.

The training promoted an exchange of expertise and views, which should assist in enhancing participants’ understanding of European standards and ECtHR’s case law in the area of freedom of expression and enable them to apply such knowledge in their daily legal work.

“The views expressed therein can in no way be taken to reflect the official opinion of the European Union”
