Drafting of the treatment module for radicalised inmates in North Macedonia

The tools and mechanism for identification and intervention with regard to radicalised inmates in North Macedonia are further adjusted as a result of the first session of the working group held from 25 to 26 November 2019 in Skopje. A dedicated group of professionals from different penitentiary institutions, as well as from the Directorate for the Execution of Sanctions, started with the process of drafting the Treatment Module for radicalised inmates, based upon the existing methodology, and the screening tools which have been prepared within the previous projects implemented by the Council of Europe.

The working group members are now designing the treatment modules aimed at helping prisoners through the disengagement process. Under this activity, the prison management and re-socialisation experts will acquire knowledge and prepare the procedures for the targeted interventions that will allow for the rehabilitation of “radicalised” offenders.

This activity has been organized within the scope of the Action “Enhancing the capacities of the penitentiary system and the external oversight mechanism in North Macedonia” that is co-funded by the European Union and the Council of Europe within the “Horizontal Facility for Western Balkans and Turkey II” and implemented by the Council of Europe.
