GRECO President exchanges views with the Committee of Ministers

On 9 September 2026, GRECO President David Meyer held an exchange of views with the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe on GRECO’s work and priorities.

He stressed that “corruption is not only a criminal-justice or public-administration issue; it is a direct challenge to democratic security”. It weakens institutions, distorts decision-making and undermines public trust.

Referring to GRECO’s 2025 General Activity Report, published in June 2026, President Meyer highlighted GRECO’s key results and findings. He also outlined the priorities of the Sixth Evaluation Round, GRECO’s contribution to the Council of Europe’s New Pact for Democracy and the importance of deepening the European Union’s engagement with GRECO.

The numerous delegations that took the floor expressed strong support for GRECO’s work and recognised its important contribution to preventing corruption, strengthening democratic resilience and public integrity, and upholding the rule of law.
