A delegation from the Council of Europe's anti-corruption body GRECO today concluded a five-day on-site evaluation visit to the Slovak Republic. This visit forms part of GRECO’s 6th Evaluation Round which focuses on preventing corruption and promoting integrity at the sub-national level.
The evaluation team, composed of experts from Czechia, Moldova, the Netherlands, and North Macedonia, along with members of the GRECO Secretariat, focused its assessment on the integrity frameworks and anti-corruption measures implemented by the Trenčín Self-Governing Region and the Capital City of Bratislava.
Over the course of the visit, the delegation engaged with a broad spectrum of stakeholders. These included officials from local and regional authorities, national oversight and coordinating bodies, public administration, civil society organisations, and academic institutions.
The insights gathered during the visit will inform a comprehensive evaluation report, to be examined by the GRECO plenary in 2026. The report will assess the strengths and weaknesses of current anti-corruption efforts, identify good practices in this area and provide targeted recommendations to further strengthen integrity and transparency across Slovakia’s sub-national governance structures.
