On 15 October, Hanne Juncher, the Council of Europe’s Director of Security, Integrity and Rule of Law and former GRECO Executive Secretary, opened the first panel of the Luxembourg Forum for the Prevention of Corruption, organised by LutCor - the Luxembourg association for the prevention of corruption.
Drawing on 25 years of GRECO monitoring, she noted progress in implementing recommendations while warning that challenges remain: ensuring measures work in practice, protecting institutional independence and sustaining political commitment. She also stressed the need for closer cooperation between public authorities and the private sector, backed by adequate resources, risk assessments, clear reporting channels and safeguards against conflicts of interest.
The panel brought together representatives of OECD, the European Parliament and Franklin Paris, including Mr Nicola Bonucci, MEP and co-Chair of the EP Intergroup on Anti-Corruption Chloé Ridel and Mr. Michel Sapin.
