GRECO - the Group of States against Corruption of the Council of Europe - with its partner review mechanisms in the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, the Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development, and the Organization of American States, will hold a Special Event on “Whistleblower Protection” at the 9th Session of the Conference of the State Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption (COSP-9).  

The Special Event will explore the notion of whistleblowing and exchange experiences on the definitions that are being applied. The event will also allow principal anti-corruption regional and international organisations to compare the definitions they have on whistleblowing, in line with the provisions included in their respective instruments and explore the possible synergies that can be found on the question “who is a whistleblower”, especially in the light of the latest progress made in the international community. 

The event will take place on Tuesday, 14 December 2021 between 18:00 and 19:00 (17:00 – 18:00 CET).
