In December 2024, the Programming Committee on Youth approved three more projects under the EYF special call in support of young people from Ukraine.
The project "Special call Ukraine - Get ready for peace!" comprises of an eight-day training on youth participation, democracy and European values/European institutions, in Turin for young people from Mykolaiv, Ukraine, and Turin, Italy. The main aim of the training is to create a learning and socialising opportunity for the participants, within the topic of peace and democracy. The main activities include the training course, and the creation of a video that participants will share with other young people when back home.
The project "Special Call for Ukraine - The Tales of the Braves" tackles the social isolation of young people aged 12 to 15 from Ukraine living in Poland in the region of Jelenia Góra. The project proposes youth work activities, such as educational workshops, art therapy, storytelling and drawing in order to develop with the young people a book of stories “the tales of the brave” which will be used as a community bonding tool.
The project "Special call Ukraine - Lense of Unity" fpcuses on creating an understanding between young people from Ukraine and Poland following the start of the war in Ukraine. Young people will engage in a series of intercultural dialogue workshops to break down stereotypes and get to know each other’s cultures more. They will also produce participatory videos that will be shown in a community festival.
To date, 46 projects have been awarded of €694 717 involving 3 601 people.
The special call to support young people from Ukraine was launched in 2022 following the decision of the Council of Europe’s Joint Council of Youth. This initiative responds to the current needs expressed by the Ukrainian authorities and stakeholders in the field of youth.
