The Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe, at the 1437th meeting of the Ministers’ Deputies on 15 June 2022, adopted the procedure (CM/Del/Dec(2022)1437/4.3E) for filling the five seats on the European Committee of Social Rights falling vacant on 31 December 2022, with the terms for these seats beginning on 1 January 2023 and ending on 31 December 2028. Following this procedure, 3 new members were elected in December 2022 and another one in February 2023.
Nonetheless, 1 seat in the Committee remains vacant. Yesterday the Committee of Ministers agreed to set a new the deadline for the nomination of candidates from Group V (Albania, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republic of Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia, North Macedonia, Turkey and Ukraine) to 14 March 2023 at noon (CET).
Taking into consideration that there may be no more than one member of any particular nationality in the Committee, the countries entitled to submit candidates by the indicated deadline are : Albania, Azerbaijan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, North Macedonia, and Ukraine.
