New complaints registered concerning Italy

The complaint was registered on 29 August 2022. It relates to Article 12 (right to social security) and Article E (non-discrimination) in conjunction with this provision of the revised European Social Charter. ASSO.MIL. alleges that by failing to set up a supplementary pension fund for retired members of the armed forces as provided for in Legislative Decree No. 124/1993, Italy has violated Article 12 of the Charter. ASSO.MIL. also alleges that members of the armed forces are thus discriminated against in comparison with public employees who already benefit from supplementary pension funds.

The complaint was registered on 15 September 2022. It relates to Articles 2§4 (right to just conditions of work), 4§1 and 2 (right to a fair remuneration), 12 (right to social security) and Article E (non-discrimination) combined with these provisions of the revised European Social Charter. CO.NA.PO. alleges a violation of the above-mentioned provisions due to the delay in the implementation of Law No. 183/2010, which provides for Italian firefighters currently in service to be equal in terms of status and remuneration linked to their activity at risk, compared other Civil Protection Corps. CO.NA.PO. also alleges discrimination between firefighters recruited before or after 2020 the latter being better paid and receiving a better pension for the same rank.

CO.NA.PO. alleges a violation of the above-mentioned provisions due to the delay in the implementation of Law No. 183/2010 providing for equality in terms of pension for retired Italian firefighters, compared to retired officer belonging to other Civil Protection Corps. CO.NA.PO. also alleges discrimination between firefighters who retired before or after 2020, the latter receiving a better pension for the same rank.
