How can independent reporting help make social rights a reality for everyone? This question was at the heart of a workshop organised by the Council of Europe on 25 September 2026 in Yerevan, bringing together staff of Armenia’s Human Rights Defender’s Office (HRDO).
Through interactive sessions, practical exercises and the exchange of good practices, participants strengthened their skills in preparing alternative reports under the European Social Charter. They explored how to identify key social rights challenges, use available evidence effectively, and turn their findings into clear observations and recommendations.
In addition, participants practised identifying gaps in existing information and areas requiring further attention, working with Armenia’s state reports and the conclusions of the European Committee of Social Rights. The discussions also emphasised the importance of collaborating with civil society and public authorities to strengthen the evidence base for independent reporting.
The workshop helped strengthen the HRDO’s ability to provide evidence-based insights into social rights in Armenia and contribute to monitoring the European Social Charter.
The activity was organised within the framework of the Council of Europe project “Enhancing Social Human Rights in Armenia”, implemented under the Council of Europe Action Plan for Armenia 2023–2026.
