San Marino ratifies the Faro Convention

This Framework Convention (known as the “Faro Convention”), which will enter into force for San Marino on 1 June 2024, is based on the idea that heritage should be used for the benefit of society as a whole. It favours bottom-up actions and emphasises the leading role of heritage communities in the management of cultural heritage, presenting it as a resource for human development and an economic development model based on the principles of sustainable use of resources. San Marino’s ratification should further encourage citizen engagement in cultural heritage governance and the development of additional bottom-up initiatives in this domain.
