On 31 October-1 November 2016, the Council of Europe held a two-day workshop on Mutual Legal Assistance in Asset Recovery for prosecutors, investigators, financial analysts, as well as for the representatives of the Ministries of Justice and Foreign Affairs, the Justice Academy and the Judicial-Legal Council. The training was organised by the Council of Europe, in co-operation with the Anti-Corruption Directorate under the General Prosecutor of the Republic of Azerbaijan. The first day of the workshop focused on asset recovery and provided an overview of basic principles, institutional and legal frameworks, good practices and challenges in asset identification, as well as asset tracing and management. The sessions on the second day of the workshop focused on the practical aspects of drafting an MLA request and highlighted the challenges that may arise during the process.
