Back Streamlining the interagency cooperation and exchange of information in Albania

Representatives from the Albanian State Police, General Directorate of Taxation, General Directorate of Customs, General Prosecution Office, District Prosecution Office and Council of Europe expert discussed the current legal and institutional framework and the practical approaches in the exchange of information and the interagency cooperation on financial investigations at a Roundtable on “Streamlining the interagency cooperation and exchange of information in Albania”.

Participants discussed the scope and principles of interagency cooperation and legal conditions under which they exchange information including operational issues, the decision-making level and organizational aspects. The Council of Europe expert provided best practices with examples of domestic cooperation and some guidelines on the draft framework template under which the cooperation agreement between the institutions could be established.

Participants agreed not to include the proliferation financing in the framework of these guidelines and discussed the opportunity to amend the current Memorandums of Understanding pursuant to the recommendations provided in the guidelines. Furthermore they agreed to extend the level of participation to other institutions.

The aim of this activity is to streamline the interagency cooperation in the field of financial investigations.
