Back Inter-Institutional coordination meeting with law enforcement agencies

A coordination meeting between the state and entity Ministries of Justice, Ministry of Security of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Ministry of Internal Affairs of Brcko District, State Investigation and Protection Agency, the Intelligence-Security Agency of BiH and prisons in Bijeljina, Mostar, Zenica, Tuzla, Banja Luka and the State prison took place on 7-8 September 2023 in Mostar, BiH.

Several important topics were discussed, mainly to agree on the format of the Guidebook for the Prison Intelligence Units (PIU) and its further application in practice. The representatives of the law enforcement agencies provided comments on its future use, as well as on the structure of the training programme for PIU staff.

A special part of the meeting was dedicated to exchanging information and experience on the management and rehabilitation of violent extremist prisoners in BiH. The representatives of the law enforcement agencies have commended the project achievements so far and the work of the penitentiary professionals in this regard, as a result of which all relevant stakeholders are better aware of the importance of having a reliable flow of information between all counterparts dealing with this issue.

This activity was organized within the framework of the project "Ensuring Sustainable Penitentiary Actions in managing rehabilitation of violent extremist prisoners in Bosnia and Herzegovina (ESPA-VEP)", funded under the Council of Europe Action Plan for Bosnia and Herzegovina 2022-2025.
