On 19-20 March, the Council of Europe hosted in Strasbourg the 11th Cooperation Committee (CC) meeting on Justice Programme for Czechia within EEA/Norway Grants. Representatives from the Ministry of Justice, Ministry of Finance and Prison and Probation Services discussed, together with the Norwegian Correctional Service and the Council of Europe, the progress made under the Programme and agreed a way to proceed for future bilateral activities.
The CC meeting was followed by several other encounters, namely with the Judge elected in respect of Czechia, the Committee for the Prevention of Torture and Inhuman or Degrading Treatment or Punishment (CPT), the Department for the Execution of Judgments of the European Court of Human Rights and the Pompidou Group. The Czech officials learned about the functioning of the organisation as well as about Council of Europe standards in the field of prisons and probation.
These meetings continue the excellent cooperation with Czechia and follow up on the Yellow Ribbon event in Prague within EEA/Norway Grants and the multilateral conference on execution of criminal sanctions organised in November 2023 by the Council of Europe with Yellow Ribbon representatives among key speakers.
