Back Meeting of the Ministers’ Deputies on 15 June 2022

At their 1437th meeting, on 15 June, the Ministers’ Deputies adopted a series of decisions on the human rights situation in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea and the City of Sevastopol (Ukraine), in the light of a report by the Secretary General [more information ...].

They held an exchange of views with Ms Dunja Mijatović, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights, on the human rights consequences of the war in Ukraine, the human rights of migrants, refugees and asylum seekers, and the safety and security of journalists covering conflicts.

The Deputies also held a thematic exchange on non-discrimination of LGBTI persons with the participation of Ms Bella Fitzpatrick, Executive Director of the International Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer and Intersex (LGBTQI) Youth & Student Organisation (IGYLO) and Ms Olena Shevchenko, Chair of Insight.

The Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly, Ms Despina Chatzivassiliou-Tsovilis, provided information on the preparation of the 3rd part of the 2022 Session (Strasbourg, 20-24 June 2022) and other Assembly activities.

The Deputies took note of the results achieved so far in the framework of the Neighbourhood co-operation priorities for Kazakhstan 2019-2022 and agreed to extend the priorities until the end of 2023 to enable all the objectives to be achieved.

They also agreed to establish a Fund for the Convention for the Conservation of European Wildlife and Natural Habitats (Bern Convention), in order to collect voluntary contributions to preserve and promote biological diversity and assist Contracting Parties in implementing policies and strategies to prevent environmental degradation.
