The beginning of the first Ministers’ Deputies' meeting under the Presidency of Malta, on 28 May, was chaired by H.E. Mr Ian Borg, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism of Malta and President of the Committee of Ministers. The communication by the Committee of Ministers’ Presidency and the item on the follow-up to the 134th Session of the Committee of Ministers (Luxembourg, 13-14 May 2025) were livestreamed.
The Deputies adopted two new Recommendations to strengthen the protection of the rights and best interests of the child in parental separation proceedings and in care proceedings. Accompanied by detailed Explanatory Memoranda, these Recommendations provide national authorities with guidance to take into account all circumstances that may be relevant when assessing a child's best interests in proceedings relating to parental separation or care [more information …].
The Deputies also took note of the following reports:
- annual report on the activities for 2024 of the European Commission against Racism and Intolerance (ECRI) adopted at its 97th plenary meeting (Strasbourg, 18-20 March 2025);
- 9th activity report of the Committee of the Parties (Lanzarote Committee) (T ES) (covering the period from 16 February 2024 – 6 March 2025.
