Back Meeting of the Ministers' Deputies on 14 November 2018

At their 1329th meeting, the Ministers' Deputies held exchanges of views with:

  • Mr Jacek Czaputowicz, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Poland, on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the independence of Poland;
  • Ms Michèle Coninsx, Assistant Secretary General, Executive Director of the UN Counter-Terrorism Executive Directorate (CTED), with particular regard to the emerging threat posed by foreign terrorist fighters and the response of member States’ to this threat.

The Secretary General presented his 18th consolidated report on the conflict in Georgia, which covers the period from April to September 2018.The Deputies then held a debate on this topic, with the participation of Mr Lasha Darsalia, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Georgia.

On the occasion of the forthcoming European Day on the Protection of Children against Sexual Exploitation and Sexual Abuse, the Deputies heard the testimony of Ms Gloria Viseras, former elite gymnast and sexual abuse victim.

Finally, the Deputies adopted the following recommendations of the Committee of Ministers to member States:

  • Recommendation CM/Rec(2018)9 contributing to the implementation of the European Landscape Convention: creation of public funds for landscape;
  • Recommendation CM/Rec(2018)10 on culture’s contribution to strengthening the internet as an emancipatory force.
