At the start of their 1536th meeting, on 10 September 2025, the Ministers’ Deputies held a minute of silence in memory of the innocent civilian victims of the dire humanitarian crisis that continues to unfold in Gaza.
The President, Ambassador Francesca Camilleri Vettiger, welcomed the new gender parity in the Ministers’ Deputies which is now composed of an equal number of male and female Permanent Representatives for the first time in the history of the Council of Europe.
The Deputies then held exchanges of views with:
- Mr Marc Cools, President of the Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe, on his recent activities and visits, as well the activities of the Congress which will hold its Session next month [more information ...];
- Ms Aoife Nolan, President of the European Committee of Social Rights (ECSR), on the work of the ECSR over the last year and the challenges and progress noted by the Committee regarding the enforcement of social rights in member States [more information ...].
