An evening of documentary premieres organized by the Council of Europe Office in Chisinau

The Council of Europe Office in Chisinau, jointly with Telefilm-Chisinau, organized an evening of premieres of the three short documentaries on social and human rights topics "My Courtyard", "DizarmoNICA" and "A Sky without Stars", developed with the Council of Europe support in 2021.

The first short film, "My courtyard" produced  by Ana Gurdiș, reflects the story of Victoria Pruteanu, a 28-year-old woman who lives in a small village in Moldova. She has been a victim of domestic violence for many years, and after an unfortunate incident, she took a life in self-defence. Judges sentenced her to 3 years in prison, leaving 5 minors at home, but for the first time, Moldovan society mobilized and her case sparked an unprecedented wave of support.

The second film, "DizarmoNICA" produced by Jasmin Delev, is a documentary about the confrontation with both the outside and the inside world that today's teenager is going through, in the absence of the family's primary support. The film tells the story of a 15-year-old girl named Nica, with remarkable success in the field of music, whose crisis as a teenager debates her career and life aspirations.

And in "A Sky Without Stars" produced  by Victor Popovici, the author and also the protagonist of the film reflects the story of visually impaired people, approaching this problem by telling his own story. The film is based on the story of a 12-year-old boy who gradually loses his sight and remembers the last time he saw the stars in the sky.

The event brought together over 150 guests, and with a word of greeting addressed to the audience joined Liliana Nicolăescu-Onofrei, Head of the Parliamentary Committee on Mass Media, Giulia Re, Deputy Head of the Council of Europe Office in Chisinau and Vlad Țurcanu, General Manager of the IP "Teleradio-Moldova."
The Deputy Head of the Council of Europe Office in Chisinau, Giulia Re congratulated the young filmmakers, noting that through its cooperation actions, the Council of Europe will continue supporting the public broadcaster and independent filmmakers in creating high-quality programs and communication products which bring added value to the audiovisual field of the country and to society overall.

The event was organized by the Council of Europe Project in Chisinau "Support for  Media Pluralism and Freedom of Expression in the Republic of Moldova"
