The Council of Europe supports peer-to-peer exchanges between Moldovan and French prosecutors at the Paris Superior Council of Magistracy and other related institutions

A group of Moldovan prosecutors has concluded a three-day study visit to France, as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Moldova’s justice sector with support from the Council of Europe (CoE) and the European Union.  The visit was organized in the framework of the joint CoE - EU project „Support to the Justice Reform in Moldova,” from 23 to 25 March 2026.

During these days, 14 members of the Moldovan Superior Council of Prosecutors (SCP) — the country’s self-governing prosecutorial body—took part in professional exchanges with their French peers at key judicial institutions. The visits took place at French Superior Council of Magistracy (Conseil Superieur de la Magistrature), the National School of Magistracy (Ecole Nationale de la Magistrature) and the Ministry of Justice.

The SCP was represented by 14 Moldovan prosecutors (7 women and 7 men), including members of the its boards on selection and evaluation, and on ethics and discipline; as well as the prosecutorial inspection services.

The exchanges focused on selection, appointment and evaluation of prosecutors, as well as on professional integrity, ethics and disciplinary mechanims, as required for enhancing the independence and the accountability of judges and prosecutors.

The initiative is seen as crucial for advancing the country’s justice reform and ensuring a fair, transparent, and efficient judicial and prosecutorial system.
