Protection of children against sexual abuse in the circle of trust

A new monitoring round of the implementation of the Lanzarote Convention was launched on 20 June 2023. This round focuses again on the protection of children against sexual abuse in the circle of trust, i.e. by someone children trust or who exercises authority or influence over them. The new monitoring round takes stock of the situation in all 48 Parties, including looking at progress made in the 26 Parties that took part in the first round. The Lanzarote Committee decided that the first questionnaire would examine legal frameworks. Findings are based on information submitted by Parties, civil society organisations and discussions held in the Committee.
