Working meeting on the Barnahus Strategy and Action Plan took place in Madrid

On 7 February 2024, the second meeting of the Working Group on the Strategy and Action Plan to scale up Barnahus-type services in Spain and its regions took place in Madrid. The Group includes representatives from the Ministry of Youth and Childhood, the Ministry of Presidency, Justice and Relations with the Courts, the Ministry of Interior, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, the Ministry of Equality, Attorney General's Office, General Council of the Judiciary, the Council of Europe and the European Union (DGREFORM).

During the meeting, the main challenges existing in Spain and its Autonomous Communities and Cities for scaling up the Barnahus model were discussed and actions were proposed for its implementation, which will be included in the Strategy.

The first draft of the Strategy will be analysed on 14 March during the next Working Group meeting, together with representatives of the 19 Autonomous Communities and Cities. This meeting will take place in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and will be followed by a study visit to the pilot court on violence against children.

On 6 February, Mireya García de Murcia, Project Manager of the Council of Europe, participated in the fourth meeting of the inter-institutional and interdepartmental group for the implementation of the Barnahus model in the Region of Murcia, organised by the NGO Márgenes y Vínculos. The project’s "mapping study" and its “regional factsheets” served as baseline for the discussions.
